Dear Hammies,
Happy May! The lengthening days and warming breezes whisper promises of summer's approach. Even as our landscape begins to dry under spring sunshine, we're eagerly awaiting the outpour of your creativity for Issue 09: Flood Memory. What memories rush forward when you contemplate the waters that shape us?
Publishing News from Your Editors!
We're thrilled to share that our very own Joe Donley, head of Dark Forest Press, has recently accepted David Beaumier's collection The Mourning Fields for publication! Expected to grace bookshelves fall 2025, this collection holds special significance for our HamLit community.
Two of the stories in The Mourning Fields first found a home within our journal's pages before David joined our editorial team! You can revisit these haunting tales in our archives:
We'll keep you updated as publication details emerge—another wonderful example of how our literary community continues to grow and flourish!
Submission Reminder
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has already submitted work for Issue 09: Flood Memory! Your words have begun to trickle in, and we're eager to immerse ourselves in the full deluge of your creativity. Remember, submissions remain open until 11:59PM on May 15th, so there's still time to send us your original work that explores what water remembers, why memories flood forward, and how we navigate the ebbs and flows of recollection.
With gratitude and anticipation,
Your Editors, Rochelle, Joe, and David
