HamLit Submissions Open! Submit to Issue 06, Without Pause today!
Dear HamLit Community,
Submissions for HamLit’s Winter Solstice, Issue 06 will be open from September 15 through November 15!
Our theme for this will be Without Pause. Whether that means rushing through, letting the tape play until the end, a time loop, or even a Sisyphean task that never ends! Learn more at HamLit.org/Submit.
We can’t wait to see what fiction and poetry you have in store for us. As always, we love to see the creative interpretations you bring with your beautiful words.
One change we’re making to help make submitting easier is we are now accepting submissions through Google Forms. If you can’t access Google Forms, you can alternatively submit following these instructions here.
Hammies in the News!
We’re excited to celebrate Michael Rostron who has self-published three books since 2019. He was featured in The Northern Light, and his work, An Actuarial Tale appeared in the most recent edition of HamLit. His books Cape Decision, The Kabul Conscript, and The Roving Fitzgeralds were all published through Village Books in Bellingham, WA. You can see his books here. Congratulations on your prolific work Michael, and we look forward to seeing more from you!
Got Agents?
Leslie Edens, whose work Old Punks Die Hard appeared in the Summer Solstice Issue of HamLit, is seeking representation for her LGBT fantasy novel, Oskar Ottokar Chandler, Paranormal Extraordinaire. Leslie’s work is characterized by absurd ways in which the world comes into focus. If you or someone you know would be interested in working with her, let us know!
Script Writing Opportunity
If you’d like to learn how to write a Hollywood movie, Aubrey M. Horton will teach a private series of screenwriting workshops at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA.
Horton is an award-winning screenwriter. He received his MFA in screenwriting from UCLA film school (“the Harvard of screenwriting”). He’s consulted on projects for Warner Bros., Paramount, and HBO. Horton’s Saturday 4-week course starts September 30 – from 2 to 5 p.m. – at WWU’s Viking Union. The tuition fee is $380. This is an introductory course which covers the basic nuts and bolts of screenwriting.

Be Well
Autumn is coming down around our shoulders like a soft blanket this year, gently ushering summer on its way. Remember to take time to breath and rest as the hustle and bustle of people returning to school will push us to rush. Let some of that energy be saved for ourselves and doing what we love.
Take care, and we can’t wait to read your work in our Winter Solstice, Issue 06, Without Pause.
Best Wishes, Warmest Regards (Happy Halloween),
David, Joe, and Rochelle
