Ten Days Until After Dark Opens
We can't wait to revel in your upcoming work of everything that happens after dark
The shadows are lengthening, and we're thrilled to be gearing up for our second Special Issue: After Dark. Last year, you delivered your most erotic, terrifying, and vulnerable work, pieces that explored what emerges when daylight fades. We can't wait to see what stories and poems you'll bring us from the darker corners of creativity. Submissions open in just ten days and run all the way through September!
It's Not Fun Anymore Was a Delight
A huge thank you to everyone who made it out for Brittany Micka-Foos' event! The panel discussion on indie publishing ran the gamut from independent authors to traditional authors working with small presses, and we all learned so much. It was wonderful to have our own Rochelle Robinson moderating and Joe Donley representing Dark Forest Press. The evening perfectly captured the collaborative spirit that makes our literary community so vibrant.

Matt Bell is Coming to Bellingham
One of our published authors and local friend Richard Pearce-Moses has organized an incredible all-day writing workshop with Matt Bell, author of the essential craft book on revision and editing: Refuse to Be Done. Early bird pricing is available now for $100, covering a two-part intensive from 10am-4pm. It's a rare treat to have such a renowned craft expert right here in our backyard!

Mark your calendars: our editor David Beaumier's book launch for The Mourning Fields (published by Dark Forest Press) is scheduled for Friday, September 26, 2025 at Village Books in Fairhaven! Two of these stories, "Medusa" and "Siren," first appeared in HamLit, and we're excited to celebrate how our community's work continues to flourish beyond our pages.
Please do let us know about your latest literary accomplishments and upcoming events! We love to have your news so we can share it with our wonderful community!
